Savant Onpar Golf Gps Caught On Video

The impressive looking Savant OnPar golf GPS unit that we mentioned last week has been caught on video by GolfViews on Viddler. You’ll have to head that way to take a look at the 4 minute video, but it looks good. You can pan, zoom, and view the entire course layout of 300 courses, save pin settings if you play the same course often, keep score, and a bunch of other stuff.
The rechargeable battery lasts for 9 to 12 hours, but it has a sleep mode to extend it if you happen to head to the clubhouse for a beer. Amazingly the unit is also water-repellant, but it does have an open USB port, so spills are okay, throwing it in the pond, not so much.
The only big problem with the OnPar GPS is the price: $479.95. That’s out-of-range for the mainstream, but could appeal to the hardcore golfer that pays $50, 000 annually for a club membership. With a price point like this, it’s pretty much a guarantee that Savant may face some competition from a cheaper Garmin Approach G5.
